IEC TR 62247-2003 pdf – Nuclear power plants – Main control room design – A review of the application of IEC 60964 (1989).
1 Scope The purpose of this report is to present the information concerning the use of IEC 60964. National committees have circulated a questionnaire (see Annex A) and answers from designers, safety authorities and vendors have been collected. The main topics of the questionnaire were: • Is IEC 60964 well known and part of a list of reference documents? • Has IEC 60964 been considered and/or implemented for a project (new plant or modernization)? • Has it been implemented fully or partly? • What have been the reasons for using or not using it? • Which other documents have been used? • What are the strong points and the weak points of the standard? After a short presentation in Clause 4, of the contents of IEC 60964 and other related standards, the answers to the questionnaire are summarized in Clause 5. Even if the observation time (twelve years) is limited recommendations to improve the standard are proposed in Clause 6 and Clause 7 is the conclusion. 2 Reference documents 2.1 Standards directly linked to IEC 60964 IEC 60964:1 989, Design for control rooms of nuclear power plants IEC 61 227:1 993, Nuclear power plants – Control rooms – Operator controls IEC 61 771 :1 995, Nuclear power plants – Main control room – Verification and validation of design IEC 61 772:1 995, Nuclear power plants – Main control room – Application of visual display units (VDU) IEC 61 839:2000, Nuclear power plants – Design of control rooms – Functional analysis and assignment IEC 62241 : Nuclear power plants – Main control room – Alarm functions and presentation (under consideration)
